American Film Institute (AFI) Announces Ten Best Films of 2012!

AFI Movies of the Year:

Argo
Beasts of the Southern Wild
The Dark Knight Rises
Django Unchained
Les Misérables
Life of Pi
Lincoln
Moonrise Kingdom
Silver Linings Playbook
Zero Dark Thirty

The only selection that is very eye-opening is that The Dark Knight Rises sneaked in.  Does this foreshadow a potential Best Picture nomination?  Honestly, no.  Not yet anyway.  It needs to gain some more steam before it becomes a potential nominee, but it doesn’t hurt to get recognized (even if the film was a huge disappointment).  Another eye opening non-selection is The Master, which is starting to lose its buzz that carried it so far.  It’s a polarizing film, and if the Academy is going to acknowledge it, it will solely be based on the appreciation of Paul Thomas Anderson (I don’t think there’s enough) and the performances from the strong core of actors.
