Last night, I attended a special screening for the film Red Lights, written and directed by Buried creator Rodrigo Cortes and starring Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, Elizabeth Olsen and Robert DeNiro. Considering the movie doesn’t release for over the next couple of weeks, our lips are somewhat sealed. Except I think the film played great with the audience. It’s quite an interesting thriller that keeps the crowd really tense and on the edge of their seat. I really like Cortes’ work so far, and he is slowly mastering the art of building conflict and inner tension throughout the entire film. It was also nice to see a Q&A session with both Cortes and Murphy just from seeing their perspectives, research and the purpose of their film. Overall, I think it’ll be an underrated and a well-received film that people will enjoy. Red Lights will open in a limited release on July 13th, 2012.
