THE ROUND-ABOUT NEWS! (Includes The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises & Prometheus)

I’m going to start a new segment could Round-About News as it will highlight the most popular and biggest news coming from the industry every week (from my opinion anyways). Here are the top stories so far.

1. The Avengers rolled out their international premiere in 39 markets and saw an opening weekend just shy of $180 million. That is quite of an accomplishment. Considering they still have yet to open to Russia, China and some other major markets, this movie is going to make a lot of money. Duh…

STORY

2. The Dark Knight Rises has begun their viral campaign, and begins the unrolling of their film with their second and last trailer before the film releases in July. A viral campaign is what made the Dark Knight such a huge hit, as their focus was on the Joker and making sure he looked pretty legit. Success indeed. This time around, the focus seems to be shared between Batman and Bane, but definitely we’re seeing the tones of the third and final installment in Nolan’s series.

*If you click the last picture of undeveloped film, you will see a frames sequence of the trailer. O lala~

The Dark Knight Rises

3. Warner Bros. has started pimping Prometheus like none other ever since the first trailer premiered, cause a stirring and passionate fan base waiting to see Ridley Scott go back to his glorious ways. They’ve been non stop in releasing videos, blogs, images, etc. and now we get two awesomely awesome videos. One being a 3 minute trailer and the other being a featurette. Enjoy!

The Avengers World Premiere (First Reactions)!

The Avengers first premiere to the world transpired last night in Los Angeles.  Including with the world premiere, many film bloggers and critics got to witness the madness of The Avengers and what will come in these next few weeks.  They signed an embargo stating they cannot write reviews, but they were allowed to write tweets about the film (pretty sure just to create a crazy buzz) but nonetheless.  Here are the responses.

Absolutely loved THE AVENGERS. Was smiling from beginning to end. If you’re a Marvel fan you’re going to lose your shit in the theater.

Also, the two things that made amazing: the Hulk and the humor. Joss Whedon gets a 10 out of 10 on both of those.

THE AVENGERS. Finally, a Marvel film with a rousing finish. I’ll deal with the first two acts in my review.

And that third act is more than enough to make THE AVENGERS the best Marvel movie yet.

I’d tweet about The Avengers but my body is still recovering from non-stop geeking out. So, so, so much fun (for the most part).

Literally still getting goosebumps writing about The Avengers. So many chill scenes. Problems for sure but they’re overshadowed by the good.

@GermainLussier Agree the more that I think about it. I have a lot of nitpicks in the first half. But second half is pretty solid.

The Avengers is pretty epic. There is probably more action in this film’s climax than all the other Marvel movie combines!

Avengers was big, messy, fun. More importantly there’s now nothing but Hawkeye fanfic swimming around in my head.

I just can’t stop thinking about the Hulk…. Bruce Banner and I could totally get married, right? & Make cool Hulk babies? HULK. I LOVE YOU

Does it break embargo to say the Avengers is ScarJo’s best/close to best work? Like legit town USA, Joss knows how to direct women. I ❤ Nat

Seriously, if comic book movies are your thing, you will be fully satisfied by the concoction Joss Whedob has fixed for you with .

That’ll do, Joss, that’ll do.

AVENGERS is good enough to make me forgive IRON MAN 2.

I mean, IRON MAN 2 still sucks, but I’m less mad about it.

GAHHHHH!!!! Avengers was delightful kick-assery with whipped fun on top!!! Well done Joss et al! twitpic.com/98rbj7

Also, here’s what Edgar Wright, Seth Green, and Damon Lindelof had to say about the flick:

‘The Avengers’ is a big tub of popcorn heaven. A huge grin on my face throughout and much applause from the crowd too. Well done Mr. Whedon.

So that was AMAZING. Like, double plus awesome. Thank you Joss Whedon for giving us all the movie we deserve.

The Hulk we have been waiting for has at last arrived.
